Howie Long

Trying for a bit of variety from actors today, here's a big macho guy who ruins any idea about glasses being for geeks. But I still don't like his hair.

Ryan Stock

When was the last time you saw a MIG do this?

Ryan's own website is currently under construction, but you you can find a gallery at Discovery Channel: http://www.discoverychannel.ca/content/?pid=189

Nicely myopic, his girlfriend holds his glasses for him on the show for some of his stunts.

Daniel Radcliffe

Enthusiasts have speculated, argued and fantasized over whether Dan wears glasses in real life. Certainly those worn as Harry Potter are plano props, no prescription. But this recent tidbit from the HP news circles suggest there may be something in the gossip.

'"'Harry Potter'' star Daniel Radcliffe, who captivated moviegoers as the bespectacled schoolboy wizard, has donated the first pair of glasses he wore as a child to an exhibition marking the horrors of the Holocaust."

"His note says, "Dear Jean Evans, Please find enclosed my first pair of glasses which I wore at school, around age six. I also enclose my glasses case. I wish you every success with the exhibition. Love, Daniel Radcliffe""

"Various figures such as Yoko Ono , Jerry Springer, Jason Isaacs, Stephen Fry and Tony Blair donated glasses that will be displayed to symbolize the victims of concentration camps. The display will appear as if 300,000 pairs of glasses are before you."

Hugh Jackman

Hugh has never been shy about wearing glasses in public, but it would be nice to see him wear them in a role. As a very versatile actor, I'm hoping something appropriate will come along.

Thanks to the anonymous tip-off below I've been able to find this. (From the upcoming movie "The List").

That's a nice shot, but rather conservative. The character is an accountant, and by jiminy the hair and clothing says it all. No, actually it's worse than that, he looks like a Baptist minister.... but we take what we can get, huh girls?

So, not being ungrateful in the least, but what we really want is to see Hugh in a leading man role, nice serious story (oh OK, a silly story would do at a pinch), in glasses, of course, but with this kind of look. As he does "period" so well, a bespectacled (jeez, that's hard to spell) cowboy would work. Steampunk would be even nicer. I can dream.

There's still a rather old photo of a topless Hugh in glasses, all rippling muscles, somewhere on my original website: http://www.geocities.com/electra_the_migfetish_lady/

Sean Bean

Ever since I saw him as Boromir in Lord of the Rings I've been watching out for the rough and ready British blond, as he's in our target age group for presbyopic pulchritude. This is what I found:

Nicolas Cage & Justin Bartha

One of the advantages of maturity: reading glasses. It was great to see Nic wear his in the second National Treasure movie, and make quite a big deal over it. He may be one of us, you never know.

But this movie is a double treat. It also features surely the handsomest high myope in Hollywood, Justin Bartha. That boy has some power going. Guesses on his prescription? I'll start the bidding at -6.

Nic talked to Reader's Digest in an interview:

RD: So you're 42 now. Was turning the big 4-0 major?

Cage: I started needing glasses to read. But I don't mind wearing them, pulling them out. They're a great prop.
